HOW DO YOU START THE ROTATION?

The first request slip received establishes the start of the rotation. The rotation continues through the list of singers (which includes first time singers) before it returns to the starting point.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO SING DUETS AS WELL AS SOLOS?

This is by far the most difficult thing to keep straight in a rotation. There is no perfect way to handle it. We try, as fairly as possible, to count duet songs as a turn for one of the people singing.  The first name on the song slip is who that duet will belong to unless otherwise stated.

HOW DO YOU MIX NEW SINGERS INTO YOUR ROTATION?

Singers turning in their first slip will be added to the end of the rotation with singers in the currently established rotation.
The reason for this is simple. Everyone who sings will wait the same amount of time as the person they are following
WHAT IF PEOPLE SUBMIT SLIPS UNDER DIFFERENT NAMES?

Anyone discovered submitting slips under different names to intentionally defeat the rotation rules is removed from the rotation. We understand that sometimes customers use stage names or funny names as a joke and we will try to play along to add to the entertainment value of the show. We appreciate and encourage this type of activity. However, we are concerned when someone purposely changes his or her slip for the expressed purpose of singing ahead of everyone else in a fair but long rotation. We are sorry to inconvenience our customers, but there are plenty of law abiding citizens out there who are only out to sing and have a good time.

HOW DO YOU KEEP THE ROTATION IN ORDER?

A business standard has always been "First Come, First Served." We also encourage this activity and go one step farther for our customers. We will hold a customer's spot in the rotation using their old slip as a guide until it reaches the front. This gives them time to look for another song to sing. If they choose not to sing again, then the slip is removed. Their spot in the rotation will be there the next time around.

WHAT IF SOMEONE LEAVES AND RETURNS LATER?

Remember that we will keep a singer's old slip in the rotation for one full cycle. This does give the customer a chance to estimate how long it will be to the next song. In a long rotation there may be an hour before they are called again. If they do not answer the second call for their song, their slip is removed (we try to allow for the possible bathroom break). Anyone returning to the rotation after his or her slip has been removed is placed at the end.

HOW ABOUT PEOPLE WHO JUST GRAB THE MICROPHONE WHILE OTHER PEOPLE ARE SINGING?
Aside from being downright ignorant, we gently remind the person that they may sing only at the request of the original solo artist. We try to keep the microphones out of the reach of customers who might be tempted. If they still choose to sing, their slip is moved to the end of the rotation and they are reminded that the duet is counted as their turn. Over time this strategy has become very successful and customers who would do this on a regular basis are now patiently waiting for their own turn.

HOW OFTEN DOES THE KARAOKE HOST SING DURING THE ROTATION?

As a Karaoke host, our job is to provide entertainment. This can be accomplished through the singers in the establishment or through the creative introduction of songs by the host when needed. We feel that the customers are the most important people and they should come first. For this reason, the host will remove himself from the rotation as soon as enough singers are available (usually four to six customers). The host will take requests to sing specialty songs and dedications from his customers but only by request

DOES THE KJ ACCEPT BRIBES IN ORDER TO GET A SINGER UP FASTER OR TO CUT THE LINE?

1. No! I will not accept a bribe, for any reason what-so-ever!
2. If you have to leave, I will not put you in front of anyone else... not even for $100.00
It wouldn't be fair to every other singer whom has been waiting paitiently for their turn!
3. I don't wanna hear how Jeff, John and Joanna let you cut the rotation for a couple extra buck$ at their no-class karaoke show. (They don't really care about thier customers as much as they do... lining their pockets!)
4. I won't even allow the owner of the venue to cut the rotation. I will kindly remind them to look around at all the customers who probably would never patronize their establishment again, if I overlooked it for them.
